Sohail Arora launched his solo project, EZ Riser, in Oct 2012. Often known as a pioneer for pushing cutting edge electronic music with a heavy emphasis on bass in India, Sohail Arora got exposed to Bass music during his days of working with Blue Frog & Zenzi, the iconic music venues of Mumbai. By 2008, Sohail had co-founded Bay Beat Collective, one of India’s most influential Bass crews, dabbling in styles ranging from Drum n Bass to Dubstep with a partiality to ‘phat basslines.
EZ Riser aims to showcase newer forms of electronic music with a focus on Breaks, Footwork, Drum & Bass, Half-Time, Trap, Hip Hop and Global Bass. Sohail’s influences include artists such as DJ Rashad, Clap Clap, Zinc, Machinedrum, Addison Groove, Mala, Om Unit, and many more. His DJ mixes entail flavours that are hard-hitting, bouncy and engineered for the dance floor. As the founder of KRUNK, India’s foremost alternative booking agency and events crew, Sohail also runs India’s only dedicated bass festival called Bass Camp Festival that takes place in over 10 cities across India and the greenest music festival, Echoes of Earth, in Bangalore.
EZ Riser has played at India’s top venues like antiSOCIAL (Mumbai), Auro (Delhi), High Spirits Cafe (Pune), The Humming Tree (Bangalore) and renowned festivals like Magnetic Fields, NH7 Weekender, VH1 Supersonic, Amsterdam Dance Event, Goa Sunsplash Festival & Appa Art Festival, to name a few.
As EZ Riser, Sohail has toured all across the world performing in places such as Bar-a Bar (UK), Rosi’s Berlin (Germany), The Villa (Norway) to name a few. He has also played at Europe’s leading festivals like Jungle Flash Festival (Slovenia) Mela Festival (Norway), Modern Sky Festival (Finland), Outlook Festival & Dimensions Festival (Croatia).
