Oceantied aka Ketan Bahirat is a Bangalore based producer associated with genres like Hip-Hop, Footwork, Juke, Breaks, Jungle and Drum n Bass. Known for creating experimental sounds/samples from his immediate surroundings,Bahirat’s music moves from lush downtempo numbers to skittery footwork cuts . Oceantied is known as one of the few Indian artists to be a part of the legendary Red Bull Music Academy Class of 2016 (Montreal). His first music video Let You Go, was produced by Red Bull Music and ranked over two hundred thousand views. It is a house track filled with smooth chords, catchy vocal loops and lush melodies featuring the stunning landscape of high altitude Ladakh. Bosco Bhandarkar directed the stunning music video.
Oceantied’s first release was a 4- track EP called Tribes, followed by a 2-track EP Paradise/Closets (2016) on Indian record label Knowmad Records7 (India). Oceantied has contributed to tracks on compilations by Aeronema (Czech Republic) and Juke Bounce Werk (Los Angeles, USA). He is currently working on an ongoing series of club-oriented EPs called On the Floor (Volume 1) (Volume 2) (2019). Oceantied’s most recent offering comes in a three-track release titled Nostalgia 160 (2020), featuring 160 BPM edits of tracks that bring out a feeling of nostalgia. It also features a previously unreleased tune ‘Pyaar Hua’ which has been a staple selection in his DJ sets over the years. 2020 saw back to back releases by him: Isolation (From the 22-2 Compilation by Various Artists), Passing By (From Samsara Beats presents: Isolation), 2020 is Will From Stranger Things Falling Into The Upside Down (From 22-2, Vol 2 Group B), Kuch Kuch (Oceantied Remix) (From the ‘Good as Gold’ EP), Shadows (From the Kaala Khatta -Flavours of the East Compilation by Krunk Kulture), Jahaan Shah, katyayani – More (Oceantied Remix) (From the ‘More’ EP), Nothing Anonymous – Pieces (Oceantied Remix) and Murthovic – Todi Mill (Oceantied’s 160 Flip) (From Antariksha Sanchar : Transmissions in Space, Vol 2).
He initiated a mini project called #1beat1week, which is an audio-visual collaboration project where producers from across India and the Globe collaborate with visual artists/animators/filmmakers. He also hosts a monthly night in Bangalore known as Ripple, pushing boundaries of the local club music scene in Bangalore, introducing the city to new sounds and music.
Oceantied has shared the stage with legends like AMIT, Sam Binga, Zed Bias, Pangea and Lapalux, to name a few. He has toured at top-drawer clubs like Cross Club (Prague) and festivals including Dimension and Outlook festivals in Croatia. Oceantied performed at the first-ever Boiler room session held in India, Boiler Room session (2016) and for BUDX Mixmag Lab and the biggest Indian festivals like IndiEarth Xchange (2017), Nh7 Weekender, Vh1 Supersonic, Magnetic Fields and various editions of Krunk Bass Camp Festival India (2016-2019).
